TI and the Civil Rights Movement

TI and the Civil Rights Movement

Mar 19 & 26, Apr 2 | 7-8:30p

The most significant moment in TI's 75-year history was Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's visit in May 1964. Why did he come here to preach? How did his visit fit into the context of the Civil Rights Movement? And what happened next? Rabbi Friedman course will open with the Birmingham Campaign of 1963 and conclude with the Freedom Summer of 1964, placing MLK's visit and TI's Rabbi BT Rubenstein squarely in the center of this pivotal period.

The class on Tue Apr 2 will take place only on Zoom.
